Lost & Found 2020

Over the course of 2020 I made photographs as a way of processing the helluva year. It was a time of deep self reflection. Experiencing fragmentation, disillusionment, holiness, and meditative moments. In December I looked back through my digital catalog from the year and found a personal narrative of my experience.

For this collection of work it was important to interact with it in a tactile way. I wanted this document to seem as though it had been discarded, thrown aside, only later to be discovered after it had been collected its character and patina in its wanderings.

Each copy of this zine is completely unique in how it is worn & textured. Using an economic printing process offered by Blurb, typically used for text documents, I used this lo-fi printing process to stress the printers demanding they put out as much black ink as possible. The result is an ever-changing , usually loathed, banding on ever deep black page. Once I received my bulk order of 100, I individually trimmed each copy down to 8x10 size using a table saw creating torn and frayed edges. The cover was then honed and textured on a wooden board, front and back. The final treatment was to hand title, sign and edition each copy using two oil based metallic silver paint pens.
